Hospital Bag Checklist Canada (For Mom)
This is a continuation of my previous post, Diaper Bag Checklist Canada (Hospital Bag for Baby) in which I have explained in detail, what you need to take for your newborn for the day1.
I have given the links to some of the cheap & best products I found. Please click on the link & make a purchase if you like it 😊
Below are some of the things which need to be packed in the mamma's bag.
1. Purse with both parents' ID (Health card, license, Insurance related docs)
2. Sanitary Napkins (Size 5)
2. Sanitary Napkins (Size 5)
At this point, you may need the lengthier one even if your regular periods bleeding was low (I took the smaller version with me, but had to buy larger ones)
3. Breastfeeding Nighties/Nightdresses
- Ekouaer Long Nightgown, Short Sleeve Sleepwear Full Length Sleep Shirt with Pockets: This was the one which I bought, it is very convenient to wear & long-lasting
Any loose T-shirts can be used for breastfeeding. I have included some good, reasonably cheap ones below:
- Bearsland Women's 3 Packs Maternity Nursing Tops Short Sleeve Breastfeeding Tshirts: This was the one which I purchased, it is convenient to wear, didn't lose color on multiple washing
5. Maternity Pant
6. Nursing Pad
- KeaBabies Reusable Nursing Pads for Breastfeeding - 4-Layers Organic Bamboo Nursing Pads: This was the one I bought, I initially purchased the disposable ones, but then started getting allergies. This serves the purpose well.
- Lansinoh Disposable Nursing Pads, 100-Count: Initially bought this, but started getting allergies because of the gum.
7. Undergarments
8. Socks (Optional)
9. Nipple Cream (Optional)
You need to buy this only if you have nipple crack or dryness.
- Medela Purelan Lanolin Nipple Cream for Breastfeeding,1.3 Ounce Tube
- Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter for Breastfeeding and Dry Skin, 2-Ounce: I bought this but then I returned it as I didn't have to use it much
10. Breast Pump (Optional)
Not necessary to carry this to the hospital, but it is good to buy one as it will be helpful especially in the initial days if you are facing issues with latching.
- Won't be much useful in the long run.
- I bought both manual & electronic pumps, but once my baby started properly latching, I didn't have much use, but till then it was of great use.
- Philips Avent Manual Breast Pump: Cheaper, but Manual pumping can be difficult over time
- Bellababy Electric Breast Pump: Easier to operate compared to manual, costly, I don’t suggest going for very expensive models, as over time, electric pumping can also be difficult.
- Hands-Free Breast Pumping Bra
- This can be a convenient option in the initial days especially if breastfeeding is not working out for you well.
